Membership Terms

Founding memberships require a one-time, upfront fee of £300. After that, membership is active for the rest of your (or the membership program’s) lifetime. Founding memberships are refundable within 30 days of purchase, provided no benefits have been redeemed. Refund requests must be submitted by email to info@howebeerproject.co.uk. After this, they are nonrefundable, unless required by law. Founding memberships cannot be transferred to someone else or resold.

Membership Benefits

Founding membership benefits include a birthday drink on us every year (a beer, coffee, or non-alcoholic beverage in our taproom - up to a value of £5), a 10% Member Discount on purchases at the Howe Beer Project or in our webshop, invites to member events, access to our members newsletter, founding member names displayed at Howe Beer Project and a Howe Beer Project branded item on sign-up. The perks and benefits of Founding memberships may change over time. We’ll do our best to keep things great, but we may need to make adjustments from time to time.

All alcohol-related benefits comply with the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005, including Minimum Unit Pricing, and are available during standard licensed hours.

Member Info

Members must provide accurate personal information at the time of sign-up and notify HBP of any changes or updates to their contact information. HBP upholds the Challenge 25 Scheme; members must be over 18 at the time of purchase and proof-of-age may be requested before member benefits are received. Members will be assigned a membership number at sign-up. Please see our Privacy Policy for how we will handle your information. You can always opt out of the Member Newsletter or other marketing emails, just contact us with your preferences. 

Membership Discounts

Discounts are non-transferable and can only be used by the individual member. Members will be asked to provide their name and/or membership number at the time of purchase. Membership discounts are limited to personal purchases and cannot be used for bulk buying or resale. If excessive purchases are made using the membership discount, a cap may be placed on the number or value of discounted purchases within a specified time period. Attempts to fraudulently share membership discounts or resell discounted purchases obtained through the membership violate this fair use policy. 

Member discounts don’t apply to gift cards, event bookings, ticketed events, shipping costs or offerings from our partners or combined with other promotions, discounts, or special offers unless explicitly noted.

Member Events

Members may be required to RSVP in advance for member events where capacity is limited. Some member events may allow for members to bring one or more non-member guests. To be respectful of all members, repeated no-shows or last-minute cancellations for RSVP events may result in restrictions on future event attendance. There may be costs or fees associated with select events, even for members. 

Please be cool

Members are expected to consume alcohol responsibly. Our staff have the right to refuse service or entry to any member who exhibits disruptive, antisocial or toxic behaviour. If there’s an incident involving this type of behaviour, HBP reserves the right to determine whether the member has violated the fair use policy. 

Changes to or end of the membership program

HBP reserves the right to modify the membership program from time to time or end the membership program. We hope the membership program always stays the same, but there could come a time - due to business, legal or financial reasons - where we’d have to change, pause or end the membership program. If this ever happens, we’ll be upfront and do our best to make it fair. We will notify members in advance of any changes either in writing or via email. Feedback from our members on any changes is always welcome. 

Founding memberships will be honored for the lifetime of the individual member or the lifetime of the membership program, whichever is sooner. We’ve created this founding membership to be a long-term, one-time commitment - if we ever need to end the founding membership program, we’ll aim to offer a pro-rated refund. The pro-rated refund value would be determined using the difference between the founding membership fee and the total cost of annual membership for the same length of time.

Violations of the Fair Use Policy

HBP reserves the right to suspend or cancel an individual membership if the member misuses their membership or violates the fair use policy. If a membership is canceled due to violations, the member will not receive a refund. 

Changes to the Fair Use Policy

HBP reserves the right to update or modify the Fair Use Policy at any time. Any changes will be communicated via email. Continued use of membership benefits after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Fair Use Policy.

Other Terms

HBP is not liable for any losses, damages, or injuries arising from the use of the membership program. This Fair Use Policy is governed by the laws of Scotland.
